One of things I love most about flying over Seattle is looking down at all the islands inside of Puget Sound. I just never get tired of the view from up there. There are so many places I have yet to explore, which made me that much more excited for Kelsey and Ryans’ Whidbey Island wedding. The day started out with a torrential downpour. And as much as I love the rain, I do not look forward to it on wedding days. As I drove onto the ferry I begged Mother Nature to cooperate and lucky for us, the begging worked. The rain stopped just long enough for us to head outside for portraits.
I knew from Kelsey and Ryan’s engagement session just how connected they are to one another. There is something so special about how comfortable they are in those silent moments where the rest of the world just drifts away. That connection and that comfort were so evident on their wedding day. And getting to see them surrounded by their amazing group of friends just made their day that much sweeter.
Couples will often ask me during their first look, “Can we kiss!?” It’s my favorite question and one that just makes me laugh. First of all, there aren’t any rules when it comes to your wedding day other than you just have to soak up every second of the day. Secondly, because it’s your wedding you get to do whatever you want. Thirdly, first looks were made for kissing and cuddling. You’ll look back on your day and be so thrilled that you had that quiet time together. I feel so fortunate to have been part of this day. Below are a handful of some of my favorites from Kelsey and Ryan’s Whidbey Island wedding. And I big shout out to Tobey Nelson Events + Design for putting together such beautiful arrangements.
