One of the things I love most about being a wedding photographer, are all the places I get to visit and photograph. This year is full of travel and a highlight so far is this fun Palm Springs elopement photographed along the famous Route 66. This editorial elopement certainly has a retro vibe for these unconventional lovers, and I am obsessed with it! It’s so different from most of the weddings I photograph, but occasionally it feels so good to step outside my comfort zone and create art that excites me. This sun-soaked Palm Springs elopement makes me incredibly happy and I’m excited to photograph more weddings in SoCal this year.
The Location
Roy’s Motel & Cafe first opened in 1938 on Route 66 set against the Mojave Desert. Every year it attracts crowds of people, who want to pose for a photo under the neon sign and stand on the iconic highway. It even includes a vintage car, which subsequently only adds to the nostalgia of the past. When you’re here, you can’t help but feel like you’ve stepped back in time.
Couple Portraits
Cambry and Dylan are a dream to photograph. They are totally at ease in front of the camera and truly brought their A game. Their style fit perfectly with this location. Cambry’s short vintage dress is so cute, and I love the color of Dylan’s suit set against the desert tones. We fully embraced the winter sun and I’m loving this direct light.
Pro tip: Florals are always a great accessory to include, whether that be at your engagement session, wedding or elopement. As a matter of fact, they are the one detail I always recommend splurging on. Bouquets highlight your attire, and the texture and color of your flowers only complement your photos.
