Eloping in Joshua Tree
Joshua Tree is open year-round, but temperatures do soar during the summer months. Ideal months to elope are between March – May or October – November. In order to elope in Joshua Tree, you will need a to have a set date, a special use permit from the park, and a ceremony location. A great way to avoid crowds is to elope during sunrise. If that doesn’t work with your schedule, golden hour, which typically starts 60-90 minutes before sunset is also a great way to get that magical light. Joshua Tree National Park requires permits for elopements, weddings and ceremonies, regardless of the size of the event and your wedding photographer is covered under your special use permit.

Joshua Tree has 11 designated ceremony locations. Indian Cove Amphitheater allows up to 100 people, but only 1 vehicle, so you’ll want to shuttle your guests. Hidden Valley Picnic Area allows up to 35 people and up to 8 vehicles. Rattlesnake Picnic Area allows up to 20 people and up to 8 vehicles. Quail Springs Picnic Area allows up to 15 people and up to 8 vehicles. Porcupine Wash allows up to 12 people and 4 vehicles. Live Oak Picnic Area allows up to 5 people and 3 vehicles. Queen Valley Mine Intersection allows up to 10 people and 5 vehicles. Turkey Flats allows up to 35 people and 8 vehicles. Split Rock allows up to 15 people and 5 vehicles. Lost Horse Parking Lot allows up to 10 people and 5 vehicles. Finally, Cap Rock allows up to 25 people and 8 vehicles.







What Can I Bring to My Joshua Tree Elopement?
Joshua Tree does allow free-standing arches, live flowers, battery-powered candles, a runner, a rug, cake, champagne and a small table to use for a guest book or gifts. Joshua Tree does not allow drones, dried flowers, bubbles, live animals, balloons, smoke bombs, confetti, rice, birdseed or open flame candles.
