Saltwater Farm Wedding in Lavender and Blue on Friday Harbor

Wedding

There’s something incredibly special about a Saltwater Farm wedding on Friday Harbor. Located in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, this venue offers the perfect mix of beauty and charm. This August celebration was one of the most memorable weddings I’ve photographed. In fact, the ferry ride from Anacortes to Friday Harbor brought me back to the region I once called home for nine years.

I’ve always loved this area. The peaceful islands, cozy coffee shops, and local restaurants give it so much character. When my friend Jenna Bechtholt invited me to assist with this Saltwater Farm wedding, I was thrilled. Moreover, the journey across Puget Sound felt relaxing. Occasionally, porpoises appear alongside the ferry, which makes the ride even more magical.

Why Choose Saltwater Farm for Your Wedding

A Saltwater Farm wedding creates a retreat-like experience for couples and their guests. The venue is just minutes from Friday Harbor, making it easy to reach by ferry. Lizzy chose this location because of its personal meaning. Sharing it with loved ones made her day even more joyful.

The wedding took place on a warm summer afternoon. The ceremony overlooked the Salish Sea, offering views that highlight the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. It’s easy to see why Saltwater Farm is such a popular choice for destination weddings.

Wedding Ceremony Highlights

The ceremony took place in a sunny meadow surrounded by fir trees and blooming lavender. From that spot, guests enjoyed sweeping views of the Salish Sea. Without a doubt, it felt peaceful and secluded.

As a personal touch, Lizzy’s father built the wooden ceremony arch. It was beautifully decorated with soft pastel florals, which added elegance and sentiment to the ceremony space.

Capturing the Perfect Wedding Portraits

After the ceremony, we took a few quiet moments for portraits during golden hour. This is always my favorite time to photograph. Not only is the light soft and warm, but it also adds a magical quality to the images.

In the background, the barn added a rustic element to their portraits. These photos perfectly captured the calm and joyful energy of Lizzy and Brandon’s day.

Saltwater Farm Wedding Reception and Celebration

Cocktail hour took place in the meadow and the large house. As the evening approached, clouds rolled in and gave everyone a break from the sun. Meanwhile, guests followed a wooded trail to reach the barn for the reception.

Inside, the night came alive with toasts, dancing, and heartfelt moments. It was a relaxed and joyful celebration. In the end, it was a perfect way to close out a beautiful Saltwater Farm wedding.
