Oh the beauty of Sonoma! Kim & Ben’s Westerbeke Ranch wedding was a wonderful celebration. It was undoubtedly sweet and soulful, relaxing and loads of fun. Located in Sonoma’s Valley of the Moon, Westerbeke Ranch is a fabulous retreat when you need to escape the chaos of the city. It’s just an hour outside of San Francisco. It’s not only a beautiful place to rest and relax, but it makes for a great venue when you want to host an intimate outdoor wedding.
Wedding Ceremony
Set against the backdrop of rolling grassland and natural beauty, Westerbeke Ranch really is unique. California’s oak trees are magnificent and they are one of my favorite ceremony backdrops. Kim and Ben stood below a great oak and committed to spending their lives together. Gorgeous paper cranes hung from the oak, creating a really romantic setting. A tea ceremony honored their parents and bubbles greeted them as they made their way up the aisle.
Wedding Portraits
Set against the backdrop of rolling hills, Kim and Ben gathered with their sweet wedding party for photos. The bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses in varying degrees of blush. Their bouquets contained a combination of roses and succulents – making them one of my favorite details from the day. While I’ll always get photos of everyone looking and smiling at the camera, my favorite photos are the candid ones, where everyone is captured in fits of laughter.
Wedding Reception
As guests gathered in the garden for cocktail hour I was amazed at just how beautiful their reception looked. Set around the swimming pool, the veranda was a lovely setting to dine while the sun began to fade. The flower arrangements were made up of succulents with a mix of bold and bright colors and lots of texture. They made a beautiful statement. The whole setting was as romantic as it was lovely and I truly enjoyed my time getting to assist photographing Kim and Ben’s beautiful day.
Reception Details
This bohemian Westerbeke Ranch wedding had the loveliest table decor. Each table is adorned with succulents and greenery, and hanging plant globes and plant terrariums are a lovely addition to the head table. It was just the type of setting where you’d want to sit down and gather with friends.
First Dance
Pro tip: It’s really fun to go straight into your first dance after being announced into your reception. It’s a great way to kick off the party. If you love natural light as much as I do, then having your first dance take place outdoors during golden hour is ideal.
